Peer Recovery Support Listening Session

Dear Colleagues,

The Deputy Secretary/ Executive Director of the Behavioral Health Administration, Dr. Bazron, would
like to hear your thoughts and views concerning the current status of peer support and how we can
move forward to sustain, support, and expand peer services within Maryland’s Behavioral Health
System. To this end, we are planning a series of regional “listening sessions” with peers, advocates,
and others in which Dr. Bazron will facilitate an informal discussion around peer support. The fifth
session will be held on June 22, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Frederick County Health
Department-Auditorium, 350 Montevue Lane, Frederick, Maryland, 21702.

Our discussions will be centered on such wide ranging issues as the salaries levels of peers,
reimbursement for peer services, types of roles, work locations/places of employment, integration
within treatment/clinical services, certification requirements to become a Certified Peer Recovery
Specialist, what barriers in the workplace are limiting your abilities to serve and what resource/support
services might be helpful for you as a person in recovery.

Space for this listening session is limited. However, we will have future listening session that range in
location throughout the state.
